About the film:
In the near future, during a relentless summer break and with a solar eclipse approaching, 12-year-old Bego struggles to find her place within her family and among girls her age. As the moon seems to eclipse the animals and people around her, she meets REN__, an online friend, who introduces her to “shifting” – a practice where teens believe they can enter other realities through lucid dreaming.

Director’s Statement:
“This is my love letter to the internet, the one that no longer exists, where I made friends in chatrooms, pirated music and films, and found myself as a teen. I hope it becomes a refuge for the misfits who, like me, still dream.”

About the director:
Lucila Mariani is a filmmaker from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She directed many short films that screened in festivals such as Locarno, IFFR, New Directors/New Films, Mar del Plata IFF, and IndieLisboa. Los días libres is her first feature film, which was selected in La Fabrique Cinéma (Festival de Cannes, 2023). She’s currently writing her second feature film Laguna Pepsi and developing a short film Cowboy-girl.
